Ayuda a mantenerse en forma, mejora la salud en general, y resulta especialmente beneficioso para el sistema cardiorrespiratorio.<\/p>\n<p>Varios estudios, entre los cuales uno de los m\u00e1s importantes es el de la Universidad de Texas publicado en el \u201cAmerican Journal of Cardiology\u201d, muestran que nadar habitualmente mejora el funcionamiento vascular del coraz\u00f3n y hace disminuir la presi\u00f3n sangu\u00ednea.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores llegaron a esa conclusi\u00f3n despu\u00e9s de estudiar los resultados de cuarenta voluntarios con estilos de vida sedentarios. Despu\u00e9s de tres meses practicando la nataci\u00f3n,\u00a0 empezaron a notarse los efectos. Baj\u00f3 la presi\u00f3n sist\u00f3lica y la arteria car\u00f3tida se volvi\u00f3 m\u00e1s flexible, lo cual mejora su capacidad de bombear sangre con eficacia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UN CORAZ\u00d3N SONRIENTE GRACIAS A TI<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nadar es fundamentalmente una actividad aer\u00f3bica que aporta claros beneficios cardiovasculares.<\/p>\n<p>Si eres constante (mi consejo es que nades dos o tres veces por semana), el tejido muscular del coraz\u00f3n se acostumbra a consumir menos ox\u00edgeno y no desperdiciar energ\u00eda, de manera que late m\u00e1s despacio<\/p>\n<p>Aparte de esa gran ventaja, el ejercicio en el agua tiene otros efectos beneficiosos para el coraz\u00f3n:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aumenta de tama\u00f1o.<\/li>\n<li>La capacidad del ventr\u00edculo izquierdo es mayor.<\/li>\n<li>Se contrae m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido y m\u00e1s eficazmente.<\/li>\n<li>La cantidad y calidad de las arterias coronarias que llevan sangre al coraz\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n aumenta.<\/li>\n<li>El nivel de colesterol baja.<\/li>\n<li>Los niveles gluc\u00e9micos est\u00e1n m\u00e1s controlados.<\/li>\n<li>La presi\u00f3n sangu\u00ednea disminuye.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>CONSEJOS PARA EVITAR CONTRATIEMPOS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Como la nataci\u00f3n exige un grado considerable de esfuerzo f\u00edsico, sugiero un <strong>reconocimiento m\u00e9dico con electrocardiograma incluido<\/strong> (mejor si es una prueba de esfuerzo). No debes considerarlo una p\u00e9rdida de tiempo o de dinero, sino una buena manera de proteger la salud.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Es muy importante no tener prisa. <\/strong>Siempre es mejor empezar con tranquilidad, sin exagerar ni tratar de batir el record de los 50 m libres. Procura mantener un ritmo uniforme todo el tiempo que est\u00e9s en el agua, consumiendo energ\u00eda y calor\u00edas durante al menos 40\/45 minutos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mant\u00e9n el ritmo cardiaco por debajo del m\u00e1ximo, <\/strong>que para una persona sin entrenamiento previo y sin problemas cardiacos ronda los 120 lpm. Si no tienes un monitor de frecuencia puedes medirla poniendo el \u00edndice en la mu\u00f1eca o el cuello, contando los latidos por cada quince segundos y multiplicando por cuatro.<\/p>\n<p><strong>No te olvides de descansar. <\/strong>La fase de recobro es vital. Si el ritmo cardiaco baja con rapidez, todo va bien.
