Dutch Swim Camp Diaries – Part 2

Dutch swim camp
Dutch Team in Training

As the Dutch Team continue their stay in the beautiful city of Phuket, we asked what kind of training each swimmer went through on a regular basis.  We were told that each camp had its own set routine, and that the Dutch team’s was as follows:

Monday and Tuesday:

Morning: Swim training from 9:00-11:00am, followed by strength or dry-land training. Dry-land training is important, as it helps improve strength and stamina. Cardiovascular endurance, such as running, increases the ability of the heart and lungs.
Afternoon: Group strength (push-ups . swim cords), followed by Swim training from 5:00-7:00pm.

Wednesday:

Morning: Swim training from 9:00-11:00am, followed by strength or dry-land training.
Afternoon: The team is free to do what he/she wants. This may be to take extra rest time (which is vital to a good recovery),  or activities, such as visting the beach or a nearby town.

Thursday and Friday:

Morning: Swim training from 9:00-11:00am, followed by strength or dry-land training
Afternoon: Group strength, followed by Swim training from 5:00-7:00pm
