You are reading: When finding love in the swimming lane

You did not exactly plan it! Perhaps you thought that since you are spending your free time in the swimming pool it might happen, but certainly you did not think that the boy to make your heart race would be one you are sharing the pool with.
Not only that. You did not have the slightest intention to mix swimming, a time you had all for yourself, with distractions from outside the world of training and athletic preparation.

And yet, there he is, calmly training in the lane next to yours, throwing glances your way and making you think about every single word he said for the entire duration of the workout.

But are you really ready to take the risk to transform a moment that is all yours in an opportunity for dating and courtship? You may not be able to control your emotions and maybe, in other circumstances you may not have even noticed that swimming companion. But now it happened, and your heart races at each of his gaze; what are you going to do about it? Are you really ready?

First of all, it is important to understand to what extent this person may affect your workout. Remembering that training is your first goal is the first step to keep focusing on your workouts. But if you think that it really worth it to win his heart, try to respect at least your routine workouts without changing your schedule by trying to be there when he is. If you realize his influence is an excessive distraction and, in his presence, you can only think of him, try to distract your attention: chatting with your teammates or training companions will help you focus again on swimming and, at the same time, not seem overly interested. Remember that in love wins the one who gets away and the best way to get noticed is precisely to not show yourself too interested.

Keeping in mind these simple tips you will be able to show to your beloved swimming mate that you are an independent girl; you will get noticed for your enthusiasm, your athletic spirit and your dedication!
